Houten, The Netherlands - The Royal Dutch Mint has signed a new multiyear agreement with the Central Bank of Ireland to mint all Irish collector coins, and now also €2 commemorative coins. The contract, that will commence in May 2026, marks a significant milestone in the long-standing cooperation between European institutions in the production of high-quality coinage.
In addition to production, the Royal Dutch Mint will manage the full scope of activities related to Irish collector coins. This includes product development, marketing, international distribution and customer service. Collectors can continue to purchase all official Irish collector and commemorative coin issues through www.collectorcoins.ie, which will serve as the central platform for sales and information. The first new Irish coins minted under the agreement will enter the website, which is already active and managed by Royal Dutch Mint, shortly after the commencing of the contract.
Multiyear production, marketing & distribution agreement
Under the terms of the agreement, the Royal Dutch Mint will be responsible for the minting of all Irish Collector coins. This includes official Irish collector coins and from May 2026, there will also be 2 euro commemorative coins celebrating Irish culture and heritage. All coins will be produced at the Royal Dutch Mint’s state-of-the-art facilities in the Netherlands, where centuries of craftsmanship are combined with modern minting technology and stringent quality controls.
The Central Bank of Ireland selected the Royal Dutch Mint following a competitive tender process, recognizing the Mint’s extensive experience, technical expertise, and strong reputation within the global numismatic community. The partnership ensures continuity, reliability, and innovation in the supply of Irish coinage, while maintaining the high standards expected of official euro coins.
